Blog #51: Cleanse & Refresh - Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil Review

Beauties, I have a big problem. I wear make-up almost every time I go out. Dirt and pollution cling and clog my pores the moment I step out of the house. This leads to a build up and after the day, may cause irritation and breakouts if unwashed.

But with a lot of beauty products that promise to strip away the impurities and make-up of the day, what can I use that won't strip away the natural moisture of my skin too?

When I emptied my Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Cream, I was considering get the much-raved about Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. I was set to buy it, was on my way to their Glorietta branch when I was sidetracked while I was at the SM Mall of Asia. I passed by Laneige to check what their new stuff were when their accommodating sales staff sweet-talked me into getting their Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil.

So I said, why not try it? I was already there and the sales staff was so convincing and was able to answer all my concerns - is it strong enough to erase even heavy duty make-up? YES. Is it mild enough not to strip away the natural moisture of my skin? YES. Do I need to apply a lot to get effective results? NO, just a couple of pumps will take care of my whole face and even extend to my neck.

So, what exactly does the Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil have to offer? According to Laneige's official website, it's a deep cleansing oil that:

  • removes heavy make-up, sebum and blackheads

  • contains mugwort extracts that clean the inside of the pores

But wait a minute, what the hell is a "mugwort"??? Interestingly, I found out that mugwort is a dream herb (quite literally) because it often used as one of the main ingredients in sleep pillows, which brings the dreamer more lucid dreams. It is also useful in calming frayed nerves and easing stress. Hmm... so far, I'm liking what I'm reading. :)

So I got it and immediately took it for a test ride.

For this review, I tried using the Laneige Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil on lines I drew using the Etude House Play 101 Pencils. To those who are not familiar with the Play 101 Pencils, these are seriously heavy-duty eyeliners. Once drawn, it won't be easy to smudge them off.

I did a couple of pumps of the cleansing oil and let it sit for awhile on my drawn hands.

After 30 seconds, I rubbed the oil all over the drawn part and almost instantly, the make-up started dissolving!

From that, it was so easy to take off. Just rubbed some more until it faded on its own.

Viola! All gone! :D

Sorry for that hairy arm. Haha

PRO/S:

  • needs just a few pumps to cover the whole face
  • effective in removing even the heaviest make-up yet gentle enough not to strip the natural moisture of the skin
  • just rinse to remove remaining residue; no need to tissue off
  • 250ml bottle goes a long way (I've used it for half a year now and still have a about two weeks worth remaining)

CON/S:

  • a bit expensive at P1,500 compared to other make-up remover
  • oil-based which means it gets sticky when applied

OVER-ALL RATING: 3.8
