Blog #48: Weekend Grub - Homemade Linguini Alfredo Recipe

The weekend has finally arrived, Beauties! I'm sure most (if not all) of you are so pumped for the two days of relaxing and lounging around. For work from home wives like me, it doesn't make that much difference since I enjoy the perks of staying at home and having quality time with the husband while earning as well.

One of the challenges of being at home all the time is thinking about what meals to prepare everyday. Husband and I take turns in cooking (with him getting most of the turns because he's one hell of a cook) and thinking about different menu for each day is such a task! These past few weeks though I'm specifically craving for cream-based pasta and ever since I tasted Italianni's Truffle Pasta, I just can't take the taste out of my mouth that I've constantly been yapping about it to hubby.

So my mission to cook the ultimate cream-based pasta begins. Since Truffle sauce is too expensive and impractical to make, I made do with the most basic pasta: Alfredo. I''ll be sharing with you my own recipe cooked straight out of our kitchen!


  • 500 grams uncooked Linguini pasta
  • 2 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 8 strips of bacon
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1 whole garlic
  • 6 pcs. of ham diced
  • 1/2 pack of frozen green peas
  • 1 small can of mushroom (pieces & stems)
  • 1/2 cup juice from the mushroom
  • 2 packs of All Purpose Cream
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 cups of grated cheese


  • Cook pasta per instruction on the package. I cooked it in boiling water for 12 minutes or until al dente and added a little salt and oil.
  • Drain pasta and set aside.
  • In a heated pan, cook bacon at medium heat until crispy. Set aside for garnish.
  • Using the same pan, melt the butter together with the oil and drippings from the bacon and saute garlic until brown.
  • Add the diced ham and green peas and saute for 3 mins. Add the mushroom, saute for another 3 minutes then add the juice from the mushroom and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add the cream and bring it to a boil. Add grated cheese, parsley, salt and pepper.
  • Season according to taste.
  • Plate pasta and pour sauce. Add bacon pieces / bits as garnish

It's so easy! I can't believe how fast I was able to make it. Tip though. The package on the pasta recommends 10 minutes cooking time but I adjusted it to 12 minutes based on my preference. Also, since it's cream-based, the sauce tends to turn bland when combined with pasta so don't be afraid to season strongly when making the sauce. Another tip is that after cooking the sauce, take a few strands of the pasta and pour a few amount of sauce in it to taste test then do necessary adjustment on seasoning depending on your taste.
