Blog #45: Korean Gradient Lips - Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar

Hello Beauties! By now I guess I've repeated again and again how I'm obsessed with Korean gradient lips. It's been a long trend but until now, I'm still sporting this quite complicated lip trick when I go out.

Have you tried doing gradient with just ordinary lipsticks? So hard! I tried before and had to redo each time it's become frustrating. So imagine my joy upon finding out that Laneige came out with an innovative, totally ingenious new type of lipstick, the Two Tone Lip Bar!

Two highly-pigmented colors in one tube - tell me that isn't incredible!

I have #9 Dolly Grape which is a pretty combination of rich purple (main color) and baby pink (secondary color).

#10 Burgundy Love, on the other hand, is the perfect marriage of maroon (main color) and flesh (secondary color).

SWATCH TIME! My favorite part in having new make-up is testing it for the first time. It also gives me an idea of how the color will turn out. Here's a peek at the two lip bars.

First up is #09 Dolly Grape.

I find this shade to be the safer bet between the two shades I have. The main color is leaning towards fuchsia pink more than purple which makes it easy to pair with other shades when picking an outfit.

Up next is #10 Burgundy Love.

Now this one I wear whenever I feel like rockin' a fierce look. I love how it can instantly vamp my style even without much effort.

PROS:
  • Creamy Formula - unlike other highly-pigmented lipsticks, these bars are creamy and moisturizing. I like that I have no problem of getting flaky lips unlike when I use tints or liquid lipsticks
  • Great Color Pay-off - as I've said, it's highly-pigmented that you need just a couple of swipes
  • Breezy Gradient Lips - the main function of the product is to marry two complimentary shades into a seamless lip color and it delivers
  • Time Saver - you'll probably save a good five to 10 minutes from your normal routine which was mostly you meticulously lining and blending just to get the right gradient from two lippies

CONS:

  • Lesser Product Than Other Lipstick - this is the only disadvantage I can think of. I find it to have smaller quantity of product inside the tube compared to other regular lip products which is a bummer. :(

OVER-ALL RATING: 4.9

I would like to try the Dolly Grape! It is my first time to have heard of the gradient lipsticks. I will give 'em a try next time. :)
